What Is a Silt Fence Used For?
The purpose of a silt fence is to prevent erosion. It is often using during construction to keep the displaced soil from going onto the roads or in bodies of water.
Super Silt Fence vs Regular Silt Fence
The main difference between a silt fence and a super silt fence is that a super silt fence is stronger because it essentially combines the sturdiness of a chain link fence and a silt fence to form one “super” fence. That being said, many people opt for a regular silt fence because it’s cheaper.
Silt Fence Installation Machines
In order to install a silt fence quickly and efficiently you need a silt fence plow attached to a skid steer or ditch witch. This can make it difficult to install for someone who doesn’t have this equipment. We use a bobcat at our company and are happy to provide you a quote on how much it would cost for us to install your fence for you.
Silt Fence Specifications
According to the California State Water Resources Control Board, silt fencing should be made out of woven polypropylene and have a width of at least 36 in. It should also be able to handle at least 100 pounds of force. The fabric should conform to the requirements in ASTM designation D4632 and should have an integral reinforcement layer. All of the silt fencing that we use meets at least these requirements to make sure that it is secure.
Silt Fence Installation Cost
The cost of silt fence installation will vary based on if you need super silt fence or just a regular silt fence. Our super silt fence pricing is usually $30 per linear foot on average, and our regular silt fence pricing per linear foot is about $20 on average. There are a few factors that can cause the cost to vary, so it’s best to contact us for a custom quote.
